The most widely used bristles in industrial brush production should be nylon bristles, the main component of nylon bristles is polyamide (Nylon), the English name Polyamide (PA for short), is a general term for thermoplastic resins containing repeated amide groups – [NHCO]- on the main chain of the molecule. It includes aliphatic PA, aliphatic-aromatic PA and aromatic PA, of which there are many varieties, large production volumes and a wide range of applications, and its name is determined by the specific number of carbon atoms in the synthetic monomer.
The main varieties of nylon are nylon 6 and nylon 66, which are absolutely dominant. There are a large number of modified varieties of nylon, such as reinforced nylon, monomer cast nylon (MC nylon), reactive injection moulded (RIM) nylon, aromatic nylon, transparent nylon, high impact (super tough) nylon, electroplated nylon, electrically conductive nylon, flame retardant nylon, nylon blends with other polymers and alloys, etc. to meet different They are widely used as substitutes for traditional materials such as metal and wood, and as structural materials of all kinds.
Nylon is the most important engineering plastic, with the highest production volume among the top five general engineering plastics. Nylon has high mechanical strength, high softening point, heat resistance, low coefficient of friction, abrasion resistance, self-lubricating, shock absorbing and sound dampening, oil resistance, weak acid resistance, alkali resistance and general solvent resistance, good electrical insulation, self-extinguishing, non-toxic, odourless, good weather resistance and poor dyeing. The disadvantage is that the water absorption is large, which affects the dimensional stability and electrical properties. The fibre reinforcement can reduce the water absorption of the resin so that it can work at high temperatures and high humidity. Nylon has a very good affinity with glass fibres.
Nylon 66 has the highest hardness and rigidity, but the worst toughness. Various nylons are ordered by toughness: PA66<PA66/6<PA6<PA610<PA11<PA12 The combustibility of nylon is UL94v-2 level, the oxygen index is 24-28, the decomposition temperature of nylon is >299℃, and spontaneous combustion will occur at 449~499℃. The melt flow of nylon is good, so the wall thickness of the product can be as small as 1mm.
