Polyamide (PA) is commonly known as nylon, and long carbon chain nylon refers to nylon varieties with 10 or more methylene groups between adjacent amide bonds in the main chain of the macromolecule, such as PA11, PA12, PA1010, PA1212, PA1012, etc.
Among them, PA610 and PA612 two aliphatic polyamides, the choice of long-chain diamines and hexamethylene diamine condensation, strictly speaking, does not meet the above definition, due to the length of the diacid more than 10 carbon, its periodic length in the interval of half is to meet the definition of long carbon chain nylon, while the length of diamine only 6 carbon, resulting in the material temperature resistance and mechanical properties and other properties better than the long carbon chain nylon, slightly lower than The general purpose nylons PA6 and PA66, therefore PA610 and PA612 are often classified as long carbon chain nylons.
PA6 and PA66 have a high water absorption rate, resulting in high variation in product size and properties and high processing temperatures. Long carbon chain nylons can make up for the shortage of short carbon chains due to the long methylene chain segments between adjacent amide groups. In addition to the basic properties of polyamides, they also feature low relative density, low water absorption, good dimensional stability, excellent chemical resistance, good electrical properties, corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, toughness, fatigue resistance and outstanding low temperature resistance.
